Title of the talk: Music and Sound Recommendation for Listeners and Creators
Presenter: Dr. Peter Knees from TU Wien (https://www.ifs.tuwien.ac.at/~knees/)
Abstract:
Music recommenders are powerful tools that drive music streaming platforms, aiming to deliver the right music at the right time for each user. After giving a brief overview of different recommendation techniques used in today’s services, I will take a look at their applications and perspectives within the music industry. From interviews carried out in the context of a past project dealing with the role of intelligent machines in the process of music creation, I will highlight scenarios and implied challenges for introducing recommenders in composition. I will conclude the talk with a speculative outlook on the future of the music industry landscape and the roles of music technology and music creators therein.
